The Draft and Free Agent frenzy have come and gone. With recent moves, whats your way to early prediction for the 2017 Stanley Cup Champion?

San Jose. Like their moves on the back end and Boedker. Another year as a starter for Jones.

    San Jose vs. Tampa

    San Jose in 6.

I’m not a fan of Boedker, but San Jose will contend again. I also like Tampa, Dallas and Nashville.

I feel like Boedker has been wasting away in AZ. Depending on who he plays with, and going to a coach he has familiarity with, should have a big impact on his game.

Jones already stole games (well, at least mitigated damage), I don’t see him stepping up much more than he did these playoffs, even if he does improve.
The moves aren’t enough to overcome the aging core.

I think it would be tough to rule out Nashville, if Pekka Rinne can come back with a .920 season i see them going very far. Even if they dont wwin, a full year of Forsberg, Johansen and Subban is going to be very fun to watch.

Tampa. Think They could still use a righty top-4 guy but they can’t afford that at the moment. With how good Drouin looked at the end of their last run along with Koekkoek developing well, being able to lock up Stamkos, and two great goaltenders, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be the favorite, at least in the East. Really like Nashville as well.

How do we think Florida does this year? Yandle is a great replacement for Cambell and I really like Pysyk as well.

I love wht Florida did this offseason. The one thing i can see them do is cut down the minutes Jagr plays during the season, he seemed gased in the playoffs this year.

Gotta think he drops off a bit this year. His SH% was almost 20 this year. Even w.o him though they’re still a good team.

Losing Campbell is tough. He really dives possession, which was a major weakness last season

With the addition of Yandle i dont think you lose much in the way of puck possession, and you also replace Gudbbrandson, Mitchell and Kulikov with Demers, Pysyk and a bigger role for Petrovic, which gives you way better d core than last year.

Yeah, I think Campbell, Gudbranson, Kulikov –> Yandle, Demers, Pysyk is at least lateral if not an upgrade.

I definitely think it’s an upgrade. Gudbranson and Kulikov don’t do much in the way of positive contribution

No reason to think that Pittsburgh couldn’t make another Cup run. They have retained almost all of their players from last year, and a lot of their young, raw talent will get another year to improve.

I’m curious to see how good Sheary, Kühnhackel etc. really are. Feel like they were riding a train of emotions that might no carry them through the 82 Games grind.

I don’t know about Kuhnhackl but Sheary played extremely well whenever he was with Crosby, so I think as long as they stick together he’ll be fine. Same with Rust and Malkin.
